Standing Female Nude

Vincent van Gogh NeoMaster™

Background

Vincent van Gogh’s ‘La Crau with a View of Montmajour’ (1888) is currently held in the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam, but hidden beneath the painting is the motif of a standing nude seen from behind.

The original painting is thought to be a nude study created at some point during 1886 when van Gogh lived with his brother Theo in Paris.

Method

Using a processed x-ray fluorescence image and a Neural Style Transfer method, Oxia Palus reconstructed the lost masterpiece: Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Standing Female Nude’.
